Dominik Mysterio could undergo major character change en route to WWE RAW's Netflix debut, says legend

WWE successfully tested the waters with Dominik Mysterio recently. Now, it is a matter of when and how 'Dirty' Dom can fully embrace it.

Wrestling veteran Jim Cornette, while reviewing last week's match between World Heavyweight Champion Gunther and the young Mysterio, pointed to the babyface reaction he got. According to Cornette, both athletes stayed true to their character and the fans reacted in favor of the former NXT North American Champion at one point. So much so that even chants of 'Dirty Dom' echoed in the arena.

Speaking on his podcast, the Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette noted that WWE teased Dominik Mysterio pulling off an upset last Monday over Gunther, and the fans bought it; they wanted to see 'Dirty' Dom win:

"[Gunther] is somewhat of a sympathetic heel, if that makes any sense, whereas they really don't like Dom. But at the same point, this match was so good that at one point they were just thinking Dominik is going to f**king win and they wanted to see it because Gunther is still a heel after all," Cornette said. Jim Cornette feels that both stalwarts worked the match perfectly, and the reason it worked so well is because they did what they should do rather than showing what they could do. This was a similar sentiment The Undertaker had touched upon recently.

Finn Bálor took a dig at Dominik Mysterio on WWE RAW; World Heavyweight Championship match altered

The Prince and 'Dirty' Dom are presently the oldest members of The Judgment Day, but it appears there is some tension. The Ring General claimed last week that Mysterio deserves a shot at the World Heavyweight Title more than Bálor does, and granted a match to the young star with the belt on the line.

This week on the flagship show, Finn Bálor, JD McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio, and Carlito interrupted World Heavyweight Champion Gunther's show-opening promo. As Bálor articulated his potential win at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, he took a dig at his stablemate.

Finn Bálor claimed that Dominik Mysterio does not deserve to be in contention for the World Heavyweight Championship. Where this angle goes from here bears watching.

Meanwhile, the bout between Bálor and Gunther at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event has turned into a Triple Threat, with Damian Priest now in the fold.
