Drew McIntyre has arguably been WWE's MVP of 2024. Earlier this year, he captured the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40.
He was later involved in a feud of the year contender with CM Punk. This personal rivalry culminated in a brutal Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. After losing the cage match, McIntyre had since been out of action.
However, The Scottish Warrior made his much-anticipated return during the latest episode of RAW. He attacked Sami Zayn during the closing stages of this week's show. According to PWInsider, McIntyre is now being advertised for WWE's annual Christmas house show, which will take place at Madison Square Garden on December 26. The official website also has him listed under featured superstars for the show.
Drew McIntyre should be the one to dethrone Gunther, according to ex-WWE employee
Gunther is the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. Given his dominance, many fans believe that The Ring General could hold the title all the way to WrestleMania 41.
However, Tommy Carlucci has a different perspective. During a recent episode of the Behind the Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, the former WWE employee suggested that Drew McIntyre should dethrone Gunther and carry the title into WrestleMania next year.
According to Carlucci, McIntyre's charisma, in-ring ability, and current persona make him a better choice to hold the World Heavyweight Championship.
"I'd like to see it be Drew and Drew win the title and carry that title all the way to WrestleMania. Promoting Drew would be a 100% better [than Gunther]. He would carry the title better. His charisma, the way he works in the ring, he could do high-fly, he can ground-and-pound, he's much younger [McIntyre is two years older than Gunther] and looks better than Gunther. That's what I wanna see," he said.
It will be interesting to see what Triple H and his team have planned for Drew McIntyre.
