Drew McIntyre has become a benchmark for young talents in the pro wrestling industry to aspire to. His growth as a performer has been consistent, and he helps elevate those he works with.

In 2022, Karrion Kross returned to WWE. He immediately sparked a rivalry with The Scottish Psychopath. The two men worked a Strap Match at Extreme Rules and a Steel Cage Match at Crown Jewel that year. Kross recently revealed that he gained weight during this program.

Speaking to Sam Roberts on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Karrion Kross reflected on working with Drew McIntyre. He admitted that his reintroduction to the WWE Universe couldn't have happened any other way. He noted how McIntyre is a big man, more so than how the Scot is perceived on television. Kross wanted to look the part, so he tried to bulk up. Unfortunately, it backfired:

"It was unbelievable. It was the perfect way to be reintroduced, I think. I couldn't have asked for anything better than that," Kross recalled his program with McIntyre in 2022. "I got real big and then I got – what I felt – was too big," he claimed. "I put on a little bit of weight, relatively quickly, I put on like an extra fifteen pounds over like two or three months and I didn't like it." [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]

The Doom Walker concluded by saying that because he felt it was difficult to move around like that, he cut down, eventually getting to his "perfect" weight today, which makes him "sharp" in the ring.

Is Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes in the cards this year?

Drew McIntyre kicked off the new year by interrupting Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on SmackDown. Right off the gate, he surprised everyone, including Rhodes, by hugging the champion. He also asked The American Nightmare to watch his back, that he has no ill will towards the latter.

Sam Roberts believes WWE has set the stage for the biggest rivalry for Cody Rhodes in 2025, who had a so-so maiden run with the top prize. Roberts pointed to the parallels in their careers, with both leaving the Stamford-based promotion to prove their worth. However, unlike Rhodes, who won his first world title in front of fans, McIntyre got to do it in an empty performance center during the pandemic:

"To an extent, Cody finished Drew's story. And if Drew sees Cody as not handling the results of that finished story properly, Cody may have to do some answering to Drew."

The WWE analyst also feels that John Cena winning his 17th world title and eventually dropping it to The Scottish Psycopath would be the right way to ride off into the sunset for the 47-year-old.
