WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre recently took to social media to reveal the reason behind hugging Cody Rhodes on the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown. In his post, The Scottish Warrior also mocked The American Nightmare.

On this week's episode of the blue show, Cody Rhodes came out to deliver a promo ahead of his match against Kevin Owens at Royal Rumble 2025. During the segment, Rhodes was interrupted by Drew McIntyre, who shocked everyone by hugging the Undisputed WWE Champion before saying that he showed up to help The American Nightmare instead of attacking him.

Rhodes completely shut down McIntyre's proposal. While leaving the ring, the former World Heavyweight Champion asked the champion to watch his back. Meanwhile, Kevin Owens came out of nowhere to attack The American Nightmare from behind. The Scotsman only stared at them before walking away.

Drew McIntyre recently took to Instagram to upload photos from his segment with Cody Rhodes. In his post's caption, The Scottish Psychopath revealed that he hugged Rhodes to take a closer look at his neck tattoo. McIntyre also took a shot at The American Nightmare, writing that his body ink looked "funnier up close."

"I just wanted a good look at that tattoo. I can confirm it’s even funnier up close," he wrote.

WWE legend believes Drew McIntyre's potential alliance with Kevin Owens could be dangerous

During a recent edition of the Busted Open podcast, WWE legend Mark Henry asked whether Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens were working together after the latter's seemingly planned attack on Cody Rhodes.

Henry also mentioned that he believed a potential alliance between McIntyre and Owens could be dangerous for the entire locker room.

"Are these two working together?" Mark Henry wondered. "That is a toxic and dangerous alliance. Those two, not only will they damage a lot of people, and get a lot of sh** done, they will fight each other. There's no way. They're both two off-kilter, loose cannons to agree. That's a whole lot of crazy."

It remains to be seen what Drew McIntyre's actual motive was behind interrupting Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown.
