Former TNA and NWA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 is backing one particular superstar to win the 2025 Royal Rumble. While admitting that the veteran doesn't need to win, he wants it to happen anyway.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, host Dr. Chris Featherstone asked EC3 and former WWE writer Vince Russo about their thoughts on John Cena's final run at 47 years old, the possibility of him winning the Men's Royal Rumble bout, and the possibility of him becoming a 17-time World Champion.
EC3 said that he couldn't see any other WWE Superstar who would benefit from it massively - arguing that John Cena winning the Rumble to set up a match against Cody Rhodes would be great despite him not needing the win:
"You need somebody on the cusp, someone who will benefit from the win. The Royal Rumble win should bring the upper to the top echelon. At the same time, 60+ days for [John] Cena and Cody [Rhodes] to build an interesting story. It could be very cool and he definitely doesn't need it. But the reaction and the fact that we'd be talking about it. We'd either go 'Oh, great move!' or 'Oh, he's burying younger talent. People [will be] talking about it. I don't know if there's a talent on that cusp who would be propelled by winning it [Royal Rumble]." [From 04:29 to 05:10]

A WWE legend is expected to return "in or around" the Royal Rumble
Cena is a two-time Rumble winner, along with several legendary names, including Batista, Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Edge, and his old foe Randy Orton. The latter, in particular, has been missing for a little while and could be back soon.
On WrestleVotes Radio on Backstage Pass, JoeyVotes and TC reported that the 14-time World Champion and John Cena's long-time rival Randy Orton is expected to return in or around the Royal Rumble.
Whether this means participating in the Men's Rumble bout, interfering in the Undisputed WWE Championship Ladder match, or even returning to Saturday Night's Main Event, it will be interesting to see what happens when he returns.
Logically, it would make sense for him to go after Kevin Owens, whether or not he wins the Undisputed WWE Title. Then again, there has been a bout against Cody Rhodes teased a few times, but there's only one premium live event between the Rumble and WrestleMania 41.
