Gunther has held the World Heavyweight Championship since WWE SummerSlam. Veteran journalist Dave Meltzer suggested either of two superstars could challenge The Ring General for the title at WrestleMania 41 after potentially winning the Men's Royal Rumble next year.
On an episode of the Keepin' It 100 podcast, Meltzer was asked whether he had an idea who could win the Men's Royal Rumble next year. While he did not rule out The Rock booking himself to win the prestigious match to challenge the Undisputed WWE Champion at WrestleMania 41, he claimed an alternative scenario could see Seth Rollins or CM Punk win the 'Rumble.
The veteran journalist pointed out that if The Final Boss did not win the Royal Rumble, WWE might take the route of having The Visionary or The Best in the World win the match and challenge Gunther or whoever is the World Heavyweight Champion by the time WrestleMania 41 comes around.
"Maybe whoever you wanna go against whoever the champion, if it's Gunther or somebody else, you know. If it's Gunther, I'm gonna go with like, you know, Rollins or Punk," he said. [1:57 - 2:05]

WWE analyst suggests Brock Lesnar could win the Royal Rumble to challenge Gunther
Brock Lesnar last competed in WWE in August 2023 when he lost to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam. On an episode of his Notsam Wrestling podcast, analyst Sam Roberts suggested The Beast Incarnate could return to win the Royal Rumble 2025.
The 41-year-old claimed Lesnar could then challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41.
"If you're gonna have Brock and Gunther, I'd think WrestleMania. I mean, personally, I've already got, I don't even have it in my head anymore because I've got Gunther and John Cena for WrestleMania. But if you're gonna do Gunther and Brock at WrestleMania, I don't know, I mean, Brock would just win the Chamber or the Rumble, right?" he said.
Meanwhile, wrestling veteran Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) predicted Kevin Owens could win the Royal Rumble. After Cody Rhodes won the last two editions, it would be interesting to see who will win the upcoming one.
