Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are two of the most accomplished multi-generational superstars in the business's history. They fought alongside and against each other years ago in WWE, and today, they remain friends. Orton and Rhodes recently had an emotional time discussing their careers, and it was all caught on film.
The Viper and The American Nightmare began fighting together in 2008 as members of The Legacy. This lasted until early 2010, but the multi-time champions continued going against each other until 2014. Cody left WWE two years after their last match and went on to make a major name for himself worldwide, leading to the launch of AEW in 2019. The former EVP left Tony Khan's company in early 2022 and returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38.
Orton was the sixth guest on Cody's new "What Do You Wanna Talk About?" series on the official WWE YouTube channel. The episode included a moment where Rhodes discussed how few people in his career he can say with 100% certainty that nothing would have happened without them. Orton is in that group, as he took a chance on Dusty Rhodes's son.
Cody recalled a framed photo of him and Orton in his house and how he always knew he never let Orton down. An emotional Legend Killer then responded to the former AEW champion, who had just had a hectic weekend.
Will John Cena beat Ric Flair's record? A former WCW Champion thinks so HERE
"Ten-fold, ten-fold. Yeah... [Orton wipes eyes] Sorry, I didn't think this was gonna be like this. [they both laugh] I'm so proud of you, dude. Legitimately, so proud of you. When you left, the b*lls it took for you to leave and then start from scratch, kind of, but not... I mean, that's not the right way to say it because you were Cody f*****g Rhodes but to do what you did... I could never have done what you did. Never... never. So, when I say I'm proud of you, like, I legitimately mean it, you know?" Randy Orton said to Cody Rhodes. [From 46:03 to 47:10]
