A former WWE personality recently called out the wrestling promotion for using his voice years after his departure. The name in question is Tony Chimel.

Chimel was the ring announcer on SmackDown since the inception of the show in 1999. He was an integral part of World Wrestling Entertainment programming until 2015, after which he only made sporadic appearances. He was released from his contract in November 2020.

Tony Chimel recently took to X (fka Twitter) to fire shots at the global juggernaut. He stated that it was odd of the wrestling promotion to release him from his contract years ago while still using his voice at shows:

"I find it odd that I was let go by @WWE years ago , yet they still use my voice at shows . Maybe order a Chimeo if you want a live version," he wrote.

Tony Chimel talks about life after WWE

Tony Chimel was part of several legendary moments during his time with the Stamford-based company. So, it came as a massive surprise when he was released from his contract in 2020, citing budget cuts.

During an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Chimel shed light on his life after parting ways with the company. The former SmackDown ring announcer revealed he was working for Trader Joe's. He further stated that his new work is somewhat similar to what he did in the wrestling promotion, making the customer feel happy:

"I found out that there is life after WWE because you figure I started when I was 22 years old, and now I'm 60. I found a job at Trader Joe's, which I never really knew about. I had heard of Trader Joe's, but I didn't really know what it was. [...] There's a lot of similarities because at WWE, they always wanted to put smiles on people's faces, and at Trader Joe's all they want to do is wow the customer and make the customer feel happy," he said. Tony Chimel seemingly expressed his honest take on his voice still being used in his old workplace. It remains to be seen how the wrestling promotion will react to this.
