A former WWE star pointed out a big difference between Shawn Michaels and Triple H's leadership style. He has previously worked with both men.
Cameron Grimes worked with WWE from 2019 to 2024. During this time, he was known primarily for his work in NXT, where he was one of the top stars. He also got to work with some of the biggest stars on NXT and was involved in many important storylines. More importantly, he got to work under both Shawn Michaels and Triple H.
However, when Grimes was called up to the main roster in 2023, his downfall began, and he was eventually released from the company on April 23, 2024, without getting much TV time.
During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, the former WWE star pointed out the big difference between working with Shawn and Triple H. He said the talents got less one-on-one time with The Game.
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
"It's weird because with Hunter, when he was in charge of NXT, it was a very different model of how NXT was done. If you remember at the time, they would do the TV tapings at Full Sail. So, they would do maybe like three or four episodes in one taping, and then you wouldn't see Hunter for another couple of weeks until we would do the next set of tapings. So, you would get less one-on-one time with Hunter. Now, Hunter and Shawn kind of have like the same kind of brain waves because they worked together for so long, but the beauty of having Shawn there was that you were in class with Shawn Monday through Friday and you would do your school sessions, which are watching the matches together."
Cameron Grimes continued that they would get immediate feedback from Shawn Michaels since they were doing television every week, and then they had school from Monday to Friday, which made it easier than taping multiple episodes at a time.
"So, you would get a lot of time with Shawn, and then we were doing the television every single week. So now, you're getting that feedback immediately every single week and when you're doing multiple tapings in one episode, things can get lost because there's so much things going on. So, it's way easier to get direct immediate feedback immediately off of just one appearance like one TV taping. I mean, we're not breaking down three different episodes. It's just immediate. So, I wouldn't say one was better than the other or anything. It's just we had a lot more time with Shawn than we did with Hunter." [16:47 - 18:24]
Former WWE star Cameron Grimes expresses interest in joining AEW
Cameron Grimes' last WWE match took place on the April 12, 2024, episode of SmackDown when he was squashed by Bron Breakker. Soon after this, he was released by the company. After waiting out his 90-day non-compete clause, Grimes returned to the independent scene.
During a virtual signing with K&S Wrestlefest, the former WWE star expressed interest in working with AEW.
“I have interest in absolutely every company. But, I do have interest in AEW. Why wouldn’t I? It’s doing what they’re supposed to do and it’s shocking the culture and it’s stirring up a firestorm that is the new era of wrestling so, of course.”
It will be interesting to see if Cameron Grimes joins Tony Khan's promotion in the future.
