An ex-WWE star has made a huge request to Triple H in a new interview. The name in question, former Nexus member Heath Slater, wants The Game to bring the faction back on TV.
The summer of 2010 saw The Nexus wreaking havoc and attacking everyone in its path, with its primary target being John Cena. This led to a huge seven-on-seven elimination tag team match between The Nexus and Team WWE, which the heels lost. To this day, many fans believe that The Nexus' defeat that night was one of the biggest fumbles the promotion ever made.
In a new interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Heath Slater opened up about the impact of The Nexus on WWE.
"It's one of those things where, when you're going after the head dogs, going right for 'em. The first thing you do, to shock the world of wrestling. I mean, it's one of those things where you're like, 'Holy c**p, what's happening?' Certainly, the way we did it, surrounding, dominating, tearing up everything, destroying everything, it was one of those things that you didn't see before."
Slater ended his statement by urging Triple H to bring the faction back.
"What really blows my mind about Nexus is that we were together for what, eight, nine months? People still talk about it 14 years later. Come on, man, listen, WWE, Hunter, think about it, baby. We're not boys no more. We're men. Imagine if we came back." [H/T: Fightful]
John Cena received flak for not putting The Nexus over at WWE SummerSlam 2010
Many fans believe that a Nexus win at SummerSlam 2010 would have cemented the group as a legitimate threat, creating several new stars in the process. Unfortunately, the stable lost the match and never truly recovered from the massive loss.
Cena was the company's top star back then and rarely lost a match. His win over The Nexus left a bad taste in fans' mouths. One wonders where The Nexus would be today if the group had won the main event of SummerSlam 2010.
