The WWE Royal Rumble 2025 Premium Live Event will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 1. In a recent interview, former WWE star Steve Maclin addressed whether he could enter the Men's Royal Rumble Match.
Maclin was known as Steve Cutler during a seven-year run with WWE between 2014 and 2021. The former Forgotten Sons member has reinvented himself in TNA over the last four years. In 2023, he even held the company's World Championship for 54 days.
Several TNA wrestlers appeared in WWE in 2024 as part of a cross-promotional agreement, including Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace. On the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast, Maclin confirmed he was open to the idea of a one-off WWE return at the Royal Rumble:
"If that opportunity arose, I would jump at that right away. There's a lot of talent there that I've dreamt of working with. People that I have worked with that I wanna work with again. But, at the same time, my focus is very much on TNA, so if it was to happen, it happens. Like I said, I would jump on that opportunity, but my focus right now is on Genesis, which is coming up on the 19th." [7:19 – 7:40]
TNA's Genesis event will feature Nic Nemeth's World Championship defense against Joe Hendry. Jordynne Grace vs. Tessa Blanchard and The Hardys vs. The Rascalz are among the other matches announced for the show.
WWE Men's Royal Rumble 2025 participants
With less than three weeks to go until the event, the 30-man Royal Rumble Match is shaping up to be one of the most star-studded in years.
On January 6, John Cena announced on the premiere of RAW on Netflix that he would enter the match for the final time. CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight have also been confirmed as participants.
Paul Heyman, Roman Reigns' special counsel, revealed on the January 10 episode of SmackDown that The Tribal Chief too will compete in the match. Reigns has not entered a Royal Rumble since finishing as the runner-up to Drew McIntyre in 2020.
