Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently discussed the New Day angle on RAW this week. In an unexpected turn of events, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turned on Big E and cut him loose from the group.
It was supposed to be a joyous occasion for the New Day as WWE celebrated the faction on their tenth anniversary. However, things took a turn when former WWE Champion Big E walked out to the ring. He claimed he would always support his teammates and even offered to be their manager. Woods and Kofi declined the offer and berated the star for abandoning them after he broke his neck.
This week on The Brand, Russo broke down the action in the ring. He felt the whole segment didn't make any sense to him. The former writer pointed out that the three men were best friends and it was ridiculous that Kofi and Woods would turn on Big E because he broke his neck and had to take time off.
"I'm waking up this morning to how great this New Day angle was and I'm like, 'What f*cking world do you people live in?' You've had a best friend relationship with this dude for 10 years, the dude breaks his neck, could never wrestle again and you're gonna turn on the dude because he held you back? What world do you people live in that this makes any sense whatsoever?" [From 2:04 - 2:41]

The New Day has some stellar achievements in WWE
Over the last decade, the trio has been one of the most prominent factions of the company. Apart from being one of the top merchandise movers, the group has also won several titles in the company.
The faction has won the tag team championships 11 times on the main roster. Kofi and Big E are also former WWE Champions, with the latter also winning the Money in the Bank briefcase. Xavier Woods has not won a singles title yet but has a King of the Ring win to his name.
It will be interesting to see how The New Day functions after Big E's expulsion from the group.
