Dominik Mysterio is arguably the most hated WWE Superstar on the main roster as of now. However, a former WWE writer thinks he does not deserve such heat.
The former NXT North American Champion has been one of the top villains in the Stamford-based promotion since turning on his father, Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, nearly two years ago. Meanwhile, he allegedly became the first heel superstar to turn heel after betraying Rhea Ripley to side with Liv Morgan at SummerSlam 2024. Nevertheless, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. recently came to the 27-year-old's defense.
On his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, the Hollywood star disclosed that he loves Dirty Dom, claiming the latter is a misunderstood young man.
"I love Dominik Mysterio. I still think he's just a misunderstood young man," he said. [15:59 - 16:02]

Another ex-WWE writer thinks the company is misusing Dominik Mysterio
On his The Brand podcast, former WWE head writer Vince Russo addressed the booking of Dominik Mysterio. Although he complimented the 27-year-old's achievements, he claimed the former NXT North American Champion being part of The Judgment Day is not doing him any favors.
Russo pointed out that Dirty Dom "looks like a kid." Hence, he should be in a faction with three menacing-looking superstars instead of Finn Balor and JD McDonagh.
"When you put Dominik Mysterio, bro, with a (JD) McDonagh and a Finn Balor, bro, you ain't doing Dominik Mysterio any favors. So again, bro, he looks like a kid. That's not a knock on Dominik. He's working his a** off. He's got the bloodline. He looks like a kid. And like I said, bro, if you've got three menacing figures and then Dominik, who looks like a kid hiding behind these menacing figures, that's something completely different. But that's not what we have here," he said.
Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan lost to The Terror Twins at Bash in Berlin. As his feud with Rhea Ripley will seemingly continue, it would be interesting to see Dominik's next move.
