WWE fans had a mixed reaction to a top star saying he wanted to injure John Cena during the Royal Rumble match. Cena recently announced he was going to participate in the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match in an attempt to secure a main event title match at WrestleMania 41.
The legendary superstar is a two-time Royal Rumble winner and has won the annual battle royal in 2008 and 2013. A select class of wrestlers has won the match twice, including Triple H, and Batista, among others. Cena wants nothing but to win the match for the third time and punch his ticket to the main event of this year's WrestleMania. However, there's one man who could prove to be a thorn in his path: Drew McIntyre.
In a new interview with The Babyfaces Podcast, The Scottish Warrior said he's hoping John Cena doesn't end up coming face-to-face with him in the Royal Rumble match 'cause it would lead to the veteran getting injured.
"Let's just hope he doesn't end up in the ring with me in the Rumble because the last person who got in my way in the Rumble last year and was aiming to main event WrestleMania was CM Punk and I tore his tricep off the bone. I'm gonna ask Cena to pick the muscle or pick the bone because I'm either tearing it or breaking it."
Fans on X/Twitter reacted to McIntyre's bold statement with mixed reactions. While some wanted McIntyre to make it happen, others didn't want Cena's last run to end like that.
Drew McIntyre will look to get done with the OG Bloodline before going after John Cena
Drew McIntyre will definitely enjoy breaking John Cena's bones given his recent run as a heel and how devastating it has been. The star is on a rampage and the OG Bloodline has also faced his wrath. McIntyre has gone after those who sided with Roman Reigns and has taken out Jey Uso and Sami Zayn on multiple occasions.
The RAW on Netflix premiere saw Jey Uso manage to get one over the former WWE Champion, but it is unlikely that he will be done unless he gets his hands on Roman Reigns. This could also come to fruition soon as Roman Reigns will also be a part of the Royal Rumble match as Paul Heyman announced his participation on the latest episode of RAW.
Given the scenario, McIntyre and Reigns could very well have a face-off with the former getting attacked by the OG Bloodline and eventually getting eliminated. So in all likelihood, McIntyre would want to take the OG Bloodline out of the equation before getting into the Royal Rumble match.
Meanwhile, John Cena will be competing in his very last Royal Rumble match this year. Fans want to see him win the match and head over to WrestleMania to compete for the top title.
It remains to be seen how things pan out for the superstars heading into WrestleMania.
