Vince McMahon has dominated the headlines for the past year, but the former WWE Chairman has been a viral topic of discussion for the past week after Netflix released its Mr. McMahon docuseries. The contentious production has made major numbers for the streaming giant, but not bigger than some other familiar faces who have been wrapped up in controversies lately.

Netflix released all six episodes of the Mr. McMahon docuseries last Wednesday. Produced by Ringer Films, the series covered the controversial life and career of the WWE co-founder. It also covered several company scandals, including allegations made by a WWE Hall of Famer. Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon was also the subject of one episode.

Netflix has released its Global Top 10 list for the week of Monday, September 23 through Sunday, September 29. Mr. McMahon ranked #4 on the TV (English) list, behind Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story at #1, Season One of Nobody Wants This at #2, and The Perfect Couple coming in third.

After the McMahon docuseries, Season Four of Emily In Paris ranked #5, Season One of The Resident came in at #6, Season One and Two of Prison Break ranked #7 and #8, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval was next at #9, and the Top 10 ended with Season Three of Prison Break.

The following countries were listed: United States, Canada, Panama, and Bolivia in The Americas; UK, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Slovakia, Malta, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Iceland, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, Austria, Bulgaria in Europe; South Africa in Africa; Australia and New Zealand in Oceania; India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Singapore, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Cyprus in Asia.

Narrowed down by country, Mr. McMahon ranked #2 on the Top 10 in the United States, #2 in the UK, #4 in Australia, #3 in Canada, #9 in Germany, #9 in India, #7 in Pakistan, #8 in South Africa.

Vince McMahon warned viewers about Netflix docuseries

Vince McMahon issued a rare statement ahead of Netflix releasing its controversial docuseries on the former WWE Chairman. He posted the statement to X, which was his first tweet since April 3, 2023.

McMahon did not regret participating in Mr. McMahon's filming. However, the billionaire warned viewers that a lot of the content was misrepresented and misleading.

"I don’t regret participating in this Netflix documentary. The producers had an opportunity to tell an objective story about my life and the incredible business I built, which were equally filled with excitement, drama, fun, and a fair amount of controversy and life lessons. Unfortunately, based on an early partial cut I’ve seen, this doc falls short and takes the predictable path of conflating the 'Mr. McMahon' character with my true self, Vince. The title and promos alone make that evident," Vince McMahon wrote.

Former WWE Champion Vince McMahon continued:

"A lot has been misrepresented or left out entirely in an effort to leave viewers intentionally confused. The producers use typical editing tricks with out of context footage and dated soundbites etc. to distort the viewers’ perception and support a deceptive narrative. In an attempt to further their misleading account, the producers use a lawsuit based on an affair I ended as evidence that I am, in fact, 'Mr. McMahon.' I hope the viewer will keep an open mind and remember that there are two sides to every story," Vince McMahon wrote.

Vince McMahon reportedly tried to buy the docuseries before Netflix announced it. There is speculation that the 79-year-old will fund his production to counter Mr. McMahon.
