A historic episode of Monday Night RAW is in the books and despite the star-studded nature of the show, Vince Russo pointed out an error that could cost the WWE. The wrestling veteran pointed out an important aspect of the show.
The RAW debut on Netflix seemed like a PLE sprinkled with legendary appearances and promo segments, with WWE booking only four matches throughout the three-hour broadcast.
Roman Reigns took on Solo Sikoa for the Ula Fala while Jey Uso battled Drew McIntyre in singles competition. Rhea Ripley ended her feud with Liv Morgan in a title match while CM Punk closed out the episode with a long-awaited match against Seth Rollins.
While the matches were high-profile, Vince Russo believed WWE missed a trick by not presenting more bouts on a long show.
Russo explained while speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of Raw that having four matches in three hours would not be very enticing to the casual viewer.
"If you look at this, it is amazing to me. We had four wrestling matches in three hours. I mean, if you're a fan of the actual wrestling, you're already watching this show. If you're not, and you're tuning in because of all the hype and hoopla, and you're seeing four very long matches over three hours, I just don't know if you're racing towards the television set next Monday." The former WWE writer didn't deny the increased interest towards RAW as the first offering on Netflix was built up as a massive deal in recent weeks. Vince Russo acknowledged WWE getting more eyes on the product but wasn't sure if the company had done enough to retain any new viewers.
"No doubt a lot of people watched tonight's show. No question about that. But again, man, we are at that same question again. Did this show grow your audience? Did it bring new viewers? Did it bring in viewers that are going to stick to the product? Those are the age-old questions and I've got to say, man, I don't know if they did." [4:05 - 4:44]
A new era in the WWE has well and truly begun with the first Monday Night RAW on Netflix featuring multiple moments that have gotten fans talking about the immediate future heading into Royal Rumble and WrestleMania season.
