Roman Reigns made a huge return on WWE SmackDown this week following a brief hiatus as the Friday night show saw an action-packed season premiere unfold.

The episode also set up LA Knight as Reigns' next challenger for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Knight competed in the main event, locking horns with Solo Sikoa. He defeated The Bloodline's Enforcer, becoming only the third superstar to pin Solo Sikoa on the main roster after Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso.

However, LA Knight's celebrations were cut short as he turned around to be greeted with Reigns' devastating Spear. The Tribal Chief buried his next challenger into the mat before ruthlessly mocking him.

Reigns labeled himself a legend and called LA Knight an "overnight success" on SmackDown while mimicking the latter's signature finger-pointing. A video of this segment went viral on social media, earning praise from the WWE Universe.

Fans hailed Roman for being incredible at playing the ultimate heel in WWE. Many noted that he often drops memorable lines off the mic, and his recent interaction with LA Knight was no different. Others mentioned how he now has the Hollywood Rock's charisma in his character.

Here's what WWE fans had to say about Roman Reigns mocking LA Knight after hitting him with a Spear in SmackDown's closing moments:

John Cena acknowledges Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown

The opening segment of SmackDown saw John Cena welcome fans to the blue brand's season premiere. However, he was soon interrupted by Roman, who returned to the show after nearly two months.

The Tribal Chief addressed Cena's ongoing rivalry with The Bloodline and inquired if the latter was looking for a match. However, the veteran chose to hit the champion with a "curve ball" and decided to acknowledge Reigns on the show.

Cena gracefully admitted to not earning the right to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. But he set up LA Knight's arrival as the next challenger, kickstarting a massive championship feud on SmackDown ahead of Crown Jewel.
