A female star who had a brief stint with WWE has announced her retirement from pro wrestling in a new Instagram post. Laura Di Matteo, who wrestled three matches on NXT UK in 2021, is done with pro wrestling for good.

Laura Di Matteo is known for her stints in Progress Wrestling and Pro-Wrestling: EVE. She also had a brief run on the NXT UK brand. She had three matches and lost every single bout. Her last WWE match came on July 22, 2021.

In a new post on Instagram, Laura Di Matteo announced that she's retiring from pro wrestling after 1267 days of her final WWE match. The former NXT UK star wrote a lengthy post on her Instagram handle, and an excerpt from the same can be read below:

"My time in the ring has come to an end. I love wrestling and I will always be a fan however, as I’ve gotten older, the fear of hurting myself or my opponent has taken over and I could no longer perform at my best. I have so much respect for my fellow wrestlers, it’s a beautiful but tough sport and they deserve so much credit. Wrestlers please look after one another!! I’ve loved every moment of my career - I’ve been places I never imagined I would go and met people I never imagined I would meet, and I even got to work for WWE which was always the dream."

Laura Di Matteo's WWE NXT UK run

Matteo was a developmental talent trained by Progress Wrestling, thus getting a chance to wrestle on the NXT UK brand. She debuted on the June 24, 2021, episode, losing to Stevie Turner in a singles match.

Matteo then wrestled two more matches against Blair Davenport and Nina Samuels. Unfortunately, she also lost these bouts.

Her Instagram post received several responses from fans who wished her well for her future following her retirement. Matteo was an incredible in-ring performer, and one wonders how she would've fared on the main roster under the Triple H regime if given a chance.
