The much-awaited Netflix documentary on former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon premiered on September 25. The show focuses on the journey of Mr.McMahon.
WWE and WCW legend Madusa (AKA Alundra Blayze) was one of the pioneers of modern women's wrestling. She garnered a lot of headlines following a historic spot when she showed up on WCW television while still being the WWE (then-WWF) Women's Champion and dumped the gold into a trash can. The star has since mended her relationship with WWE and was inducted into the 2015 Hall of Fame.
One would think that she would have a lot to talk about regarding Vince McMahon and would make an appearance on Netflix's Mr. McMahon docuseries, but that was not the case. The legend recently revealed while speaking on her Paving The Way podcast that she was pitched to be part of the documentary, but she declined the offer.
"They contacted me, they wanted me in this thing so bad. They contacted me, I don’t know, about a year ago, two years ago maybe. They were already starting this, and they were like, ‘It’ll be cool. Vince is involved. He’s doing it.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s cool.’ I’m like, ‘No.’ I almost, I’m like, okay, if Vince is doing it," Madusa said.
Former WWF Women’s Champion further expressed that after initially thinking of being part of a Netflix series about Vince McMahon, but then she had a gut feeling not to do the series, and she went with her heart and dumped the idea.
"But something in my gut, I’m telling you, we all have that natural instinct, and you’ve got to follow your gut because that was my money-maker in this business. I’m like, ‘Nope,’ and I’m so glad I had nothing to do with it. No. I’ll never forget, I have the conversations, they’re in emails, I have those conversations," Madusa said.
Vince McMahon reportedly tried to “kill” Netflix series ahead of release
The Netflix docuseries regarding Vince McMahon has premiered, but according to some reports, he had plans to “kill it” and was not happy with the final output. The 79-year-old has been away from the professional wrestling business for quite some time. The former CEO stepped away from WWE and his position at TKO Group owing to an ongoing lawsuit against him.
Matthew Belloni in his PUCK Newsletter recently reported that McMahon did not want the show to go on air and tried to purchase it. However, Netflix refused to sell.
Dave Meltzer also reported that Vince McMahon wanted Ari Emmanuel to stop the docuseries from airing, but the TKO head also failed in his attempts.
