Former boxing champion set to make debut at upcoming WWE event

A former boxing champion recently signed with the WWE. She will now make her debut at an upcoming event.

Vicky D'Errico is best known for her time with Rough N' Rowdy where she won the Lightweight Championship. Despite her success in the boxing ring, she has chosen to give that up for a safer career option.

Vicky D'Errico tried out with the Stamford-based promotion during WrestleMania tryouts in Philadelphia earlier this year. She soon started her training to become a referee in September and it looks like she is now ready to officiate her first match.

WWE referee Adrian Butler took to social media to announce that Vicky D'Errico will make her debut during tonight's NXT live event in Orlando, Florida.

"Tonight’s #WWENXT live event in Orlando will see the debut of my latest signee - Vicky D’Errico. Vicky was recruited for our WrestleMania Tryouts in Philly, and started her training in Sept. Please give a warm welcome to the former Rough N' Rowdy boxing champion @vickyderrico!"

Vicky D'Errico will join Jessika Carr and Daphne LaShaunn as one of three female referees in WWE

While referees have been majorly a male-oriented job in WWE for several decades, the company has made the shift to hire more female personnel for the role like Jessika Carr and Daphne LaShaunn.

Jessika Carr was the first female referee to be hired in decades when she debuted in 2017. Since then, she has made history for herself becoming the first woman to referee a Hell in a Cell match and the first woman to referee a wrestling match in Saudi Arabia.

Daphne LaShaunn also made history by becoming the first black female referee to officiate at WrestleMania when she officiated at WrestleMania 38. These two women have proven to be trailblazers in their own way and now Vicky D'Errico will join them as the third active female referee on the roster.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes before Vicky D'Errico makes her televised debut.
