A two-time WWE Women's Champion has confirmed that she's inked a new deal with the Stamford-based promotion. The said name is Victoria, who shared that the company had signed her to a "Nostalgic" contract, aka a Legends deal.
The 53-year-old performer is a pioneer of women's wrestling in the company, where she worked from 2000 to 2009. She won the coveted Women's Title twice during her nearly decade-long tenure. Victoria later found tremendous success in Total Nonstop Wrestling (TNA), where she became a five-time Knockouts Champion.
Though Victoria made a cameo appearance during the 2021 Women's Royal Rumble Match, that didn't mark her official return to the promotion. A few hours ago, she announced that she had agreed to a new deal with WWE that would mark her return to the promotion, albeit in a non-wrestling capacity.
"Here it is, my big announcement! Earlier this week I signed a WWE Nostalgic contract. "I am so excited and honored that @wwe reached out to me about this! It's a true honor to be part of the WWE Universe again. This doesn't mean I will be hopping back into the ring [but never say never!]. It does mean I will be included in future things such as video games and maybe some new official merch! Big thank you to #WWE and all my fans and supporters, I hope you are as excited about this as I am!"
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
Alongside the tweet, Victoria also shared a video, where she made the announcement and revealed how she was struggling to fight back tears of joy.
"Guys, I'm so sorry I didn't announce my special announcement, but guess what? I'm gonna cry, hold on. I got offered Legends Contract, which is called Nostalgic Contract now and I'm so ecstatic. I'll be in the videos, I'll have the action figures. Thank you so much for the love and all the support. I'm so fricking ecstatic, you guys have no idea. I'm trying not to cry so my makeup doesn't smear."
Victoria on why she left WWE in 2009
Last year, in an interview, the two-time Women's Champion shared backstage details about her unexpected departure from the company in 2009. Victoria revealed that after realizing Vince McMahon and the creative team had no plans for her besides helping elevate other talents, she chose to exit the company.
"I went to go have a conversation with Vince [McMahon] and I was like, 'Do you guys see the championship in my future?' And they were like, 'THAT look.' I was, like, 'Alright, I get it.' Basically, I was doing the outfit, came back to wrestle, to help bring up the talent, right? Enhancement, I guess you can say," Victoria said.
Considering how much she has accomplished in the business, there's no doubt fans could also see Victoria being inducted into the Hall of Fame soon.
