A former WWE personality recently revealed why he was let go from the Stamford-based promotion. The star also smashed a major claim made by The Rock about WWE being a "family."

The name in question is Matt Camp, who was released from the company in February 2024. He signed with World Wrestling Entertainment in September 2019 and worked as a host for The Bump show. He also regularly appeared on digital shows such as SmackDown LowDown and RAW Talk.

While speaking on his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp shared the details as to why he was fired from WWE. The former Bump host mentioned that budget cuts were the reason behind his departure.

"I was told by Michael Cole [about my release] when that happened, and he was not the one who let me go. It was an HR representative; I was told it had nothing to do with anything I did; it was a cost-cutting measure, or whatever you want to call it; [we] are tightening the budget," Camp said. Matt Camp unveiled that three weeks before his release, The Final Boss greeted him at WWE HQ as a part of the "big family!''

"Three weeks prior to my release, The Rock showed up at headquarters and told me, 'What a big family this is,' and shaking hands and all, 'We're so happy to have you all aboard,' and I went through these Town Hall meetings after a bunch of cuts happened. You're still here for a reason, then you're gone, and people get let go, and that's part of the business. I get that. But that whole family b***s**t and Rock's like, 'Let's take a picture with everybody in it because I want to show I was here!'" he said. [2:26-2:51]

A non-WWE star calls out The Rock

Following the massive crossover between the Stamford-based promotion and TNA Wrestling, Joe Hendry expressed meeting The Rock inside the squared circle.

During an appearance on the Gabby AF podcast, the 36-year-old noted that he would like to go head-to-head with The Final Boss in the future.

"And just for whatever reason, I believe in my heart that one day I will stand and face The Rock in a professional wrestling ring. I just don’t know why; I just think it’s gonna happen one day," Hendry said.

The Prestigious One showed up on WWE NXT last week and participated in a 25-man Battle Royal to determine Trick Williams' next challenger. However, 24 other contestants threw Joe Hendry out of the competition. Only time will tell if The Rock will face the TNA star in a potential dream match.
