The Royal Rumble match is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that allows a WWE Superstar to punch their ticket to WrestleMania. TNA announcer Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) recently named former Universal Champion Kevin Owens as his pick for the winner of the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble match.
The Prizefighter has found himself in hot water with the WWE management. The 40-year-old Canadian wrestler was suspended for assaulting Cody Rhodes off-camera after Bad Blood. The following week, Kevin Owens solidified his heel turn when he showed up on SmackDown unannounced to lay out Randy Orton backstage in a similar fashion.
Speaking on the Rebooked Wrestling podcast, Matthew Rehwoldt explained why Kevin Owens is the ideal choice to win next year's Royal Rumble match:
"I'm gonna go [with] Kevin Owens because I think it's one of the big things he hasn't done yet in WWE and I think with this feud with Cody [Rhodes] he's being positioned for a top so I don't feel like it's a guarantee but I feel like it's a strong possibility this year with the way he's been part of this kind of main angle and involved with Cody and Randy." What's next for Kevin Owens in WWE?
The Prizefighter's status for Crown Jewel is currently up in the air. On SmackDown this week, Randy Orton approached Nick Aldis and demanded a match against Kevin Owens at the upcoming premium live event in Saudi Arabia on November 2.
However, the SmackDown General Manager rejected The Viper's proposal and said he couldn't make the match happen. Aldis claimed that it was not in his hands since the order was coming from up above.
Orton responded by saying he knows who he needs to talk to, seemingly referencing WWE CCO, Triple H. It will be interesting to see how the story will unfold as Crown Jewel approaches.
