Former Universal Champion turning babyface and dethroning Damian Priest at SummerSlam would be great, says WWE analyst

Damian Priest is brimming with confidence after walking in and out of Clash at the Castle as the World Heavyweight Champion. Wrestling analyst Sam Roberts recently entertained the idea of former Universal Champion Finn Balor knocking his fellow Judgment Day member off the perch.

Damian Priest defeated Drew McIntyre in the main event of the premium live event after CM Punk turned up disguised as a referee to screw The Scotsman over again. On the fallout episode of Clash at the Castle, a returning Seth Rollins accepted The Archer of Infamy's challenge to a championship match at Money in the Bank. Whoever wins the title will face The King of the Ring winner, Gunther, at SummerSlam in Cleveland this year.

Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts hypothetically discussed the possibility of Finn Balor turning babyface to dethrone Damian Priest at the Biggest Party of the Summer:

"Sure. But you have to play the cards as they lay. Rhea Ripley is the biggest star in The Judgment Day, and I think you've always got the potential with Finn Balor. Finn Balor is one of those talents where it's not a now-or-never scenario with Finn Balor. Finn Balor is capable at any moment of reminding you that he's a main event player. I think you've got the opportunity here, to build Damian Priest into a serious contender. And I think that is the action that's being taken. You're not wrong. The Finn Balor moment would be great," Roberts said. [From 56:34 to 57:13]

Who will dethrone Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship?

With Finn Balor out of the title picture after failing to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match, it has become apparent that either Seth Rollins or Gunther will pose a serious threat to Damian Priest's fairytale run.

Sam Roberts thinks Gunther could become the new World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam. The wrestling analyst believes Finn Balor could then turn into a babyface to challenge The Ring General down the road:

"With Gunther's champion, it might be even easier. Because you can build Finn Balor as a babyface to take on Gunther whether he beats him or not, who knows? But the idea of headlining Finn Balor vs. Gunther with a babyface Finn Balor I feel like is even stronger."

A lot can change between now and SummerSlam as The Architect is back with a quest to reclaim the title he lost at The Show of Shows earlier this year.
