Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will go head-to-head against World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Crown Jewel. A wrestling legend recently predicted the interference of a top superstar would affect the result of the square-off.
While The American Nightmare is currently focused on battling The Ring General for the Crown Jewel Championship in Saudi Arabia, he is also involved in a heated feud with his former friend, Kevin Owens. While WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently pointed out on the Busted Open podcast that neither Rhodes nor Gunther should lose the match "clean" to protect their characters, he claimed interference from The Prizefighter could be the way out of that dilemma.
The wrestling legend suggested that Owens cost Rhodes the match at Crown Jewel to heat up his rivalry with The American Nightmare ahead of Survivor Series:
"I think at the Saudi show, neither one can get the win clean. My personal opinion is, the way out of it, little chicanery, maybe a ref bump or behind the ref's back, something something, Owens interferes. It's quick, Owens and Cody have the animosity, Gunther gets the win, raises the championship above his head. The next week, RAW or SmackDown, now we're off to the races with Kevin and Cody," he said. WWE analyst also believes Kevin Owens will cost Cody Rhodes his match at Crown Jewel
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts also discussed the upcoming clash between Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. The 41-year-old predicted that The Ring General would leave Saudi Arabia victorious.
Like Bully Ray, the RAW Talk host claimed Kevin Owens would interfere to cost The American Nightmare the fight, setting up a match between them at Survivor Series:
"So, for sure Gunther's winning that big giant title. Kevin Owens is going to interfere, and then yeah, that leads us to KO vs. Cody at Survivor Series," he said.
Two months ago, The Prizefighter challenged Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Bash in Berlin. However, he came up short. It would be interesting to see if the 40-year-old could eventually dethrone The American Nightmare.
