A wrestling veteran recently addressed the possibility of returning to WWE. He claimed it would never happen.
Vince Russo had a seven-year run in the Stamford-based company, during which he reached the position of head writer. However, he left the promotion in 1999. That same year, he became WCW's Head of Creative. Although he briefly returned to WWE in 2002, Russo left again just days later.
On a recent episode of The Brand, the 63-year-old claimed he would never return to the Stamford-based company at his current age:
"At my age, all my hopes and dreams and ambitions aren't surrounded around by going back to the WWE. No way, no how, at this point in my life, would I ever wanna go back to that company," he said. [6:37 - 6:56]
The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion added that while he knows WWE would never ask him to return, he would decline a comeback even if the company offered him a million dollars:
"Al, I left TNA 13 years ago. I've been doing this now for over 10 years. I've been able to make a living for over 10 years. Never have to leave my house. Don't have to deal with politics. Don't have to deal with freaking entitled punks. It's a beautiful freaking thing. I wouldn't trade this in for the world. So, I said, I made the comment I would not go back to the WWE, not that they will never ever ask me back, I know that. I said if they called me and offered me $1 million at this point in my life, I would say no." [8:12 - 8:52]
Vince Russo refuted rumors that he has real-life heat with WWE CCO Triple H
Since Vince McMahon's departure last year, Triple H has been leading WWE into a new era. In a recent appearance on The Hannibal TV, Vince Russo addressed rumors suggesting he has real-life heat with The Game.
The former head writer refuted these rumors, stating that he had a great working relationship with the 14-time World Champion during his time in the company. However, he pointed out that his criticism of Triple H's booking was not personal:
"John, I just, I'm coming to you as a writer. He's a great wrestler. He was a great champion. That doesn't mean, bro, that you have the necessary tools to write a successful television show. The show sucks, man. In my opinion, the show stinks. It has nothing to do personally against Triple H. Nothing. Zero," he explained.
The 63-year-old veteran previously predicted that The Game would be gone from the company in 2025.
