The majority of the WWE locker room seemingly had a fairly good 2024, but for some, the year brought unfortunate departures. Now that 2025 is here, some of those same former WWE Superstars are gearing up for the next run of their career as they enter free agency. Fightful has reported that at least one recent news-maker is free to do what he wants now, which could explain a recent scoop.
Baron Corbin joined World Wrestling Entertainment in August 2012 after a brief NFL career and with zero pro wrestling experience. After almost four years in NXT, the Kansas native debuted on the main roster by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 in 2016. Corbin found success on the main roster but was sent back to NXT in 2023, then returned to SmackDown in the 2024 Draft. He was teaming with Apollo Crews at the time of his release.
The Lone Wolf was let go by WWE on November 1, along with Tegan Nox and Indi Hartwell. Officials informed Corbin that his contract would not be renewed, ending his 12-year run. Internal speculation at the time of Corbin's departure was that his contract would expire at the end of 2024, while it was also reported then that a non-compete clause does not apply to talents who have contracts expire. However, the 2019 King of the Ring was subject to a period that has just ended.

Corbin is now officially a free agent from WWE, according to Fightful Select. The 40-year-old was informed that his contract would not be renewed on November 1, and the two-month waiting period is now over. Corbin is no longer under contract to the Stamford-based promotion.
Corbin was backstage for Saturday's AEW Worlds End pay-per-view in Orlando, as were many talents living in the area. The former United States Champion was said to be just visiting. It was reported over the weekend that Corbin was not eligible to sign wherever he wanted for at least one more month, but that was incorrect.
The Mayor of Jackpot City had immediate interest from multiple indie promotions after his release. The former NXT Tag Team Champion has not wrestled since defeating Giovanni Vinci in a SmackDown dark match on October 18.
Top WWE Superstar switches brands
Logan Paul is now a member of the RAW roster. Paul and officials confirmed the brand change ahead of the RAW Netflix premiere.
Paul was left a free agent in the 2023 Draft, allowing him to appear on any brand. He ended up on the blue brand as the United States Champion and remained there in the 2024 Draft due to rules for champions. However, due to the recent Transfer Window ahead of RAW on Netflix, Paul went to RAW while Braun Strowman went to SmackDown.
Paul, on-stage with Adam Pearce and Triple H, reiterated his desire to become WWE Champion at the recent Netflix kickoff event from company HQ. He issued a harsh message to the WWE Universe and its top champions.
