Former WWE champion recalls being fired by Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon is a decisive figure in the WWE Universe. The same feeling is shared among the wrestlers who are employed by the company. Many wrestlers have talked about not being happy with the way they were treated by their boss, and a former WWE Women's Champion has now recalled how she was fired by Mr.McMahon covertly.

The superstar in question is Melina. The 5-time World Champion made her debut as the manager of MNM, consisting of Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury. While she had success as manager of the team, her greatest accolade came when she branched out as a singles wrestler.

Speaking on the YouTube channel Wrestling Shoot Interviews, the former Divas Champion recounted the story of her getting fired in 2011 while she was at a show to support her then-partner, John Hennigan.

"I went to go support John because I had to drive him to SmackDown...I think it was either SmackDown or ECW, so I drove him to the show, so I stayed, and I was in gorilla, and Vince was passing by and he stopped, and he turned and he looked at me and he said, 'You have a good night!'" While this seemed like a good thing at face value to her fellow wrestlers, Melina said she knew she was about to get fired after the interaction.

"All the guys were like, 'Wow, he made sure to say goodnight to you,' I was like, 'holy f**k I'm getting fired' and they were like, 'shut up Melina, you're not getting fired'...I said, 'he just said f**k you to me but with a goodnight'... and they were like, 'Are you crazy? They need you, what would they do without you?' ... and sure enough a couple of days later I got fired...I called it," Melina said. [2:14 - 2:41]

Melina feels WWE ruined her credibility in the ring

Before being relegated to WWE Superstars, Melina challenged Natalya for the title in early 2011. She rued the fact that all the credibility she had built over the years was suddenly being ruined by WWE by making her an enhancement talent.

"It's not just me, they did this to a lot of people where you push them to the moon and give them all this...you know... you give them credibility..you turn them into something extraordinary by giving them...he gave them the possibilties... he gave them the storyline...he gave them the push, you gave them all these things, now you have what you need in that talent, why destroy it?" She would go on to wrestle on the independent circuit while pursuing things outside the wrestling industry, but it took her 8 years to make her return to WWE, where she won her last title in the Stamford-based company by winning the 24/7 Championship.
