Former WWE Champion The Miz claimed he is a babyface because of a popular superstar, his fellow tag team partner, R-Truth. The duo won the Tag Team Championship earlier this year.
The Miz is one of the most decorated performers on the WWE roster. He has been part of several memorable moments over the years while also winning every major championship on the main roster. The A-lister has portrayed a heel character for the vast majority of his career.
During a recent conversation with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on his What Do You Wanna Talk About YouTube show, The Miz claimed he loves getting booed by the fans. He pointed out that the only downside of being a bad guy on screen is that the merchandise sales are lower.
"I love being booed. It's crazy that some people don't like it. The only thing I don't like is maybe my T-shirts don't sell, right? My merchandise doesn't sell, and that's a big thing when you're negotiating contracts and stuff. It's like a big metric, and it's like, well, I'm a bad guy. My job is to make them hate me so much that they don't buy my T-shirts and stuff. But you want them to buy your T-shirts but can't stand you, right? So, I mean, I like being a heel. I like being a bad guy," he said. [From 25:23 to 25:55]
The 43-year-old further stated that the only reason behind him being a babyface is R-Truth. He praised the veteran performer while referring to him as a funny, charismatic, and entertaining performer who is fun to be around.
"But the only reason I am a babyface right now is because of R-Truth. R-Truth just makes anyone he's around, like, the biggest babyface. Because he's just funny, charismatic, entertaining, and just fun to be around." [From 25:56 onwards]

The Miz and R-Truth are currently involved in a rivalry with former WWE Tag Team Champions
The Miz and R-Truth dethroned Finn Balor and Damian Priest of The Judgment Day as they retrieved a set of tag team titles in the Six-Pack Challenge at WrestleMania XL. The Awesome Truth was later handed the new title belts, labeled the World Tag Team Championship. The other set of titles was taken down by A-Town Down Under.
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller interrupted The Miz and R-Truth during an in-ring segment at SummerSlam, which ended with Jelly Roll destroying Theory with an impressive chokeslam. It led to a tag team match between The Awesome Truth and A-Town Down Under the following Monday. Theory and Waller picked up a pinfall win to end the back-and-forth contest.
The Miz and R-Truth have yet to win a televised match since losing the World Tag Team Championship on the June 24 edition of WWE RAW. It remains to be seen what lies ahead for the veteran duo.
