A WWE legend recently spoke about how he and Dominik Mysterio might never join forces in the squared circle again. Rey Mysterio confessed that his son is on a different path, and the chances of them getting back together are slim at best.
Dominik began his career by teaming up with his father in 2020. The duo quickly won over the fans and even won the now-defunct SmackDown Tag Team Titles. However, in 2022, Dominik Mysterio turned to the dark side by betraying Rey and joined forces with The Judgment Day. The father-son subsequently had a memorable feud that culminated with a match at WrestleMania 39, which Rey won.
Since then, the two have crossed paths on a few occasions but always as enemies. In a recent chat with Peter Rosenberg, Rey Mysterio was asked if there was any scope for him and Dominik to team up again. Rey provided a bleak update, saying his son had changed a lot over the years. The WWE Hall of Famer added that he wished Dominik Mysterio would eventually return to this family.
“That’s something that as a father, they would always to love to have with their kids, to be able to reconnect and end off where you started, on the good side. I don’t know if that’s gonna happen over the years, you know people change, sometimes for good, sometimes for bad. Hopefully one day Dom can see the bright side of being on the Mysterio side and being family overall, but I think that’s gonna be very hard.” (H/T - Ringside News)

Rey Mysterio is proud of his son's success in WWE
Though they might not be on the same page anymore, Rey Mysterio is still overjoyed by the success his son has enjoyed in WWE. Elsewhere in the same chat, Rey explained that though he was concerned when he and Dominik parted ways, his achievements over the last few years have put his reservations to rest.
“Maybe I would have thought at the time that it was a little too soon, but I was completely wrong. Look at him now. Look at all the success he’s gained. Look at the confidence booster that he has, just overall his growth. As a father and as one of his fans, I enjoy watching him in the ring every time. And you have no idea this feeling of gratitude and that I’m his dad. That’s how I feel because it’s a normal reaction, you know? I’m proud of him, I love him, and I enjoy the work that he’s accomplishing," he said.
Considering father-son feuds are all too rare in wrestling, it's safe to assume WWE might be compelled to revisit Rey and Dominik's rivalry down the line.
