Shinsuke Nakamura captured the United States Championship from LA Knight at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30. Former WWE talent EC3 is a fan of the Japanese star but believes his booking must be more consistent.
In 2018, Nakamura won the Men's Royal Rumble before unsuccessfully challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34. Since then, The King of Strong Style has held the Intercontinental Championship twice and the United States Championship three times. However, he has never won a main roster world title.
EC3 appeared on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws alongside host Dr. Chris Featherstone and former WWE writer Vince Russo. The 41-year-old praised Nakamura's 2023 storyline with Seth Rollins before questioning why his momentum stalled after the feud:
"It's hard, again, with the championship to pick or choose," EC3 said. "Like, you build somebody and if they do not culminate with the big win, they are forever in purgatory unless they get some sort of reinvention or reigniting. I thought WWE did a cool job maybe a year and a half ago where he was jumping into that feud with Rollins, but then they scaled him back and he became very dark and mysterious and doing ninja stuff on the beach and he kinda was like a serious killer." EC3 on Shinsuke Nakamura's win/loss record
The Wrestlelamia X account recently posted a graphic showing the WWE wrestlers with the worst win/loss records in 2024. Shinsuke Nakamura lost 52 of his 56 matches, including bouts at non-televised live events. Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh also featured in the top four.
Reacting to the Nakamura statistic, EC3 warned that WWE should be careful with how the former NXT Champion is presented:
"I think even Vince talked about it where he like destroyed Rollins with the chair and it was like really cinematic and cool, but then you gotta follow through with some of those things. Or even you name four pretty [big] name guys with these terrible wins and loss records, they'll always have a sense of being over, but if you're going to want them to be taken seriously you have to make that call and make a switch and give them a little steam before you put them in that situation or it's just gonna fall flat." EC3 also gave his take on The War Raiders' recent World Tag Team Championship win over Judgment Day members Balor and McDonagh.
