A former WWE Superstar recently recalled a backstage interaction with Vince McMahon. She disclosed that she asked him for his blessing to have a baby with her husband. The former WWE Chairman agreed under one condition.
The former superstar in question is Lacey Evans. The 34-year-old was involved in a storyline with Hall of Famer Ric Flair and was challenging Asuka for the RAW Women's Championship in early 2021 before the match got canceled after she announced her pregnancy. In an interview with Carlo Perruzza, the ex-Marine claimed that her pregnancy was planned and agreed upon with Vince McMahon.
The Sassy Southern Belle stated that the former Chairman gave her his blessing to take the step as long as she returned:
"The ride to that title shot and the fact that I was going to be champion was awesome, loved it. Unfortunately, I had already discussed with the company that this was my game plan. There was no title shot at that time. There was no TV time at that time. I was eating that amazing catering steak and shrimp having a good old time and so I asked Vince McMahon, you know: 'Hey sir, would now be a time to get knocked up and push out a baby and get back in the ring?' And he gave me his blessing as long as you come back. 'Absolutely, I'll come back with a six-pack in six weeks postpartum.' And I did just that," she said. [9:07 - 9:41]
Ex-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon decided to push her despite their agreement
During the same interview with Carlo Perruzza, Lacey Evans disclosed that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon decided to give her a significant push despite their agreement.
The Sassy Southern Belle revealed that she was supposed to defeat Asuka and become RAW Women's Champion. However, the plan changed when she got pregnant:
"For some reason, Vince McMahon, if you're out there listening, decided that shortly after that conversation, I mean it might have been three months, that he was going to, I was going to hold the title. 'Well, sir, surprise motherf**ker! I got a baby.' So, you know, it changed," she added. [9:43 - 10:04]
The 34-year-old former WWE Superstar left the Stamford-based company in August 2023. It would be interesting to see if she would ever return to the squared circle.
