WWE legend JBL is notorious for attacking wrestlers when they least expect it. A former star recently sent a message after receiving a menacing clothesline from the Hall of Famer. Interestingly, John Bradshaw Layfield also sent a response explaining the reason behind the attack on James Ellsworth.

Famously known for his quote “Any man with two hands has a fighting chance,” Ellsworth worked in WWE from 2014 to 2018. The 39-year-old is a popular presence in the independent circuit and recently wrestled in a promotion in Hagerstown, Maryland. Interestingly, JBL also showed up when he was fighting and floored him with a clothesline.

Sharing a video of the incident where the crowd can be heard cheering for the Hall of Famer, Ellsworth sent a message via a post on X.

“This s***ed!” he wrote.

Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?

Here is the video of the incident shared by the former WWE star.

In response, Layfield said that he clotheslined the wrestler just because he found out that he was fighting at a nearby promotion.

“Heard James was only an hour from the house, so I figured I’d go clothesline him,” he wrote.

Will JBL be returning to WWE after a decade?

JBL has inarguably been one of the best heels the pro wrestling industry has seen. The Hall of Famer made his last WWE in-ring appearance at the 2014 Royal Rumble match. Recently, he teased that he was fit for an in-ring return and relayed that he recently underwent treatment that rid him of his body pain.

So far, no news suggests that Layfield could make a comeback to the Stamford-based promotion. However, if he and the company do strike a deal, he has several storylines available for him to return to the company. The most interesting one is a possible match with John Cena.

The Leader of the Cenation had earned his first-ever WWE Championship after overcoming the legend. Seeing as how Cena is on his retirement tour in 2025, facing the man who helped kickstart his 16 world title runs would be a great prospect. It would be interesting to see if the former opponents trade blows in the future before Cena retires.
