A couple of days back, former WWE Superstar CJ Perry (aka Lana) appealed to her fans through her official X/Twitter account to pray for her family. She has now provided a major update on the situation. The Ravishing Russian has been away from the pro wrestling industry for a long time now.
While in WWE, she began working as a manager for Rusev (aka Miro). The on-screen pairing ended in a real-life romance between two stars, and the two got married in 2016. Perry even made her in-ring debut before leaving the Stamford-based promotion on June 2, 2021. After her release, the star made her AEW debut in September 2023 and left the promotion earlier this year.
This year seemed tough for Perry, personally and professionally, as she announced her split with Miro. On September 28, Lana informed her fans that her mother had been left “stranded” at her home after Hurricane Helene caused flooding in Tennessee. She even said that her father was trapped in a nearby area and couldn't reach her mother.
Now, she has provided a relieving update regarding her parents via her official Instagram story. She wrote her father was able to reach her mom, and she even thanked fans for their wishes and prayers. Perry then shared a picture of her mom, dad, and dog.
“I am so thankful my parents survived the tornadoes, flooding, and power outage and found each other. Our dog Izzy is 18 years old. I love them so much,” CJ Perry wrote.
CJ Perry wants to evolve like Paul Heyman as a manager
CJ Perry gained fame and popularity during her run in WWE. She started her career as the manager of Rusev, who was a prominent heel on the roster at the time. Their rivalry with John Cena is to this day remembered as one of the most entertaining feuds. During her short stint in AEW, Lana managed Andrade before the latter made his WWE return.
While talking to USA Today, Perry said that her role as a manager in the professional wrestling industry is not done yet. She said she wants to contribute and become a manager like Paul Heyman.
"I'm really focused on finding talent and cultivating them and helping them become the best wrestlers and champions possible. I guess you could say I want to be the Paul Heyman," she said.
It will be interesting to see what’s next for Perry. Will she return to WWE one more time as a manager or a performer? Only time will tell.
