Former WWE Superstar claims he was set for major gimmick match against Roman Reigns

A former WWE Superstar recently shared that he was set for a major gimmick match against Roman Reigns, but it was scrapped. The Head of the Table will be competing alongside Sami Zayn and The Usos in the Men's WarGames Match at Survivor Series on November 30.

According to The Samoan Supremacy on Instagram, Jinder Mahal disclosed on former WWE star Maven Huffman's YouTube channel that he was supposed to face Roman Reigns in a Punjabi Prison Match at Money in the Bank 2018, but the plans fell through. Reigns and Mahal ultimately had a singles match at the premium live event six years ago, with the Original Tribal Chief emerging victorious.

Mahal was released by the company earlier this year. The veteran is a former WWE Champion and also captured the United States Championship during his time with the Stamford-based promotion.

Jinder Mahal comments on being released by WWE

Jinder Mahal recently opened up about being released by the company in April and noted that it was only business. He also did not count out the possibility of returning to the promotion one day.

Speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Senior Editor Bill Apter and Dr. Chris Featherstone in an exclusive interview earlier this year, The Modern Day Maharaja reacted to his release by the company. He stated that businesses evolved all the time, and that is what made it interesting. Mahal looked at the brighter side and added that he was still a professional wrestler and that life goes on.

"It's business at the end of the day. Business evolves, things change, shakeups happen, management changes, talent changes, but that's what makes a business interesting right? Like that's what makes wrestling interesting. I got released before, I came back, maybe I will come back again. Who knows right? So all good, it's business at the end of the day. Business goes on, at the end of the day I am still a professional wrestler and that's the only thing that matters," he said. [0:56 onwards]

Mahal has remained active in the wrestling business following his release from the company. It will be interesting to see if the 38-year-old gets the opportunity to return to the promotion sometime down the line.
