A former WWE Champion recently praised Drew McIntyre's current run in the Stamford-based promotion. He also highlighted a key similarity between The Scottish Warrior and CM Punk.

The star being discussed is Jinder Mahal. The 37-year-old star was released from WWE in April 2024 and currently performs on the independent circuit under the ring name Raj Dhesi.

For those unaware, Mahal and McIntyre were part of a stable named 3MB alongside Heath Slater between 2012 and 2014. Despite facing off in the ring several times, the two men maintain a friendly relationship off-screen.

During a chat with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, The Modern Day Maharaja appreciated Drew McIntyre's latest run, in which he relentlessly pursued the World Heavyweight Championship.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

"I became WWE Champion before Drew McIntyre, don’t you forget that [laughs]. Drew's the man. What Drew is doing right now is incredible. This is the best version of Drew. Drew's the man. He's like a brother to me, and to see him in this position. He just signed a new contract, so he'll be there for a few more years. Something about a man like he is incredible. He’s having fun," said Jinder Mahal. (H/T: CVV)

The former WWE Champion further stated that The Scottish Warrior's not-caring-about-anything mentality, similar to The Second City Saint's, makes him a top competitor.

"I just don't think he cares anymore, and that's usually when the best comes out. Like CM Punk, he doesn't care about anything, and that's why he's the best," he added. (H/T: CVV)

Drew McIntyre was once again suspended on WWE RAW

The Scottish Warrior won the 2024 Men's Money in the Bank ladder match. He cashed in his MITB contract during Seth Rollins vs. Damian Priest's World Heavyweight Championship match. However, CM Punk cost him the title via outside interference.

After the match, Drew McIntyre had a serious meltdown and put his hands on Adam Pearce. The RAW General Manager fined and suspended the former WWE Champion for a week before he showed up on the July 15 installment of the flagship show.

Adam Pearce told McIntyre his suspension would be lifted if he apologized to two referees. However, as a result of The Scottish Warrior's refusal to say sorry for his actions, Pearce reinforced the 39-year-old's punishment.

Only time will tell if fans will witness a one-on-one match between The Second City Saint and McIntyre at SummerSlam 2024.
