Wrestlers from WWE and various other promotions perform safe and well-rehearsed moves in the ring before a live audience. Despite following all safety protocols, injuries can still occur. A former superstar from WWE is currently on an injury hiatus and recently posted an update for his fans.

Matt Cardona has been away from both the indie circuit and TNA since April 2024 after he tore his pec during a match. The former Zack Ryder is still making appearances at events but isn’t fit enough for in-ring contests right now.

Updating his fans on his condition, Cardona shared on Instagram:

“Since I tore my pec and got surgery in April, I’ve been pretty much eating whatever I’ve wanted to keep on size because I couldn’t lift. Thanks to Dr. Chance from @winterparkchiro, I’m back in the gym. It’s almost time for the comeback.”

Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.

The former WWE Superstar has finally started to work out again, hinting at an imminent return. Interestingly, while he is gearing up to come back to the TNA ring, he may soon make a comeback to the Stamford-based promotion as well.

Matt Cardona names the number one factor that will bring him back to WWE

While Zack Ryder didn’t have a very successful career, Matt Cardona has been a smashing hit in the indie circuit. Since his release from WWE in 2020, many fans have actively voiced their desire to see him return. Speaking about this with Inside The Ropes, Cardona said he is at the peak of his career and would only return if he gets a feature at top events.

"Whether you define success by accolades, money, happiness, I don't care however you define it; this is the most successful time in my career. I don't want to end my career wrestling in high school gyms or changing in alleys; I want a WrestleMania moment, or I want Madison Square Garden or AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. Even just walking down that aisle on Collision, I felt like I belonged. Even though I haven't had a "TV match" in years, I just went right back into that. You know, pose into the hard cam. It's just a skill that I never forgot and a skill that I missed.”

Interestingly, Matt Cardona has also said that he would love to work with John Cena once again as he nears his retirement. It would be interesting to see if Cardona gets a match against Cena should he return to WWE.
