A lot of departures have taken place in WWE ever since the Endeavor acquisition. One more name is set to be added to the list soon, as Reggie, aka Scrypts, is set to leave the company in a couple of weeks. The star has shared his thoughts on the unfortunate turn of events in a recent interview.
Reggie has been a part of the Stamford-based promotion for over four years. However, it recently came to light that WWE won't be renewing his current contract and thus he will depart the company on the expiry of his current deal which is June 1.
The four-time 24/7 Champion shared his thoughts on the departure during a recent interview with Sean Rass Sapp of Fightful:
"I’m very positive. The news came three or four weeks ago. I’ve been in really good spirits. It’s not how it was a couple of years ago when releases were happening and people were devastated. I know it’s still tough, but I’m in a good head space."
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Reggie added that he's ready for the next chapter of his life, assuring fans that the future is bright for him:
"I am full-on excited for this next chapter in my story. People don’t know this, but I did circus for 16 years. I was ready to lay that career aside and go on the independent circuit if WWE didn’t offer me a contract. I was willing to dive into this head first from the very beginning, but I was fortunate enough to get a contract with WWE, so that didn’t happen. Now, I’m here, and I’m excited to do that. Lots of companies have hit me up. Lots of projects in the works. The future is very, very bright." [1:46 to 3:10]
Reggie last competed on WWE NXT
While the 31-year-old started his career with the global juggernaut on the main roster, he eventually became a prominent part of WWE NXT. The star's last match for the promotion also came on the developmental brand in a loss against Je'Von Evans.
Reggie was known as Scrypts during his time on NXT. It seems like the star will be going by the name of Sidney Akeem upon his departure from the company.
