TNA Wrestling Superstar Chris Bey recently suffered a career-threatening injury. The accident occurred during the October 27 taping of the show, where Bey injured his neck. Now, his tag team partner, Ace Austin, has come forward with an update on his status.
Chris Bey underwent a neck surgery following his vicious injury and will remain in Detroit for now. He will be undergoing rehabilitation as he recovers from the surgery and returns to full strength. In his update, Austin also mentioned that a GoFundMe page had been set up for his tag partner, along with a WhatNot auction.
TNA will also raise direct funding from fans at its shows on November 8 and 9 at Fayetteville, North Carolina’s Crown Arena.
The promotion is also selling a lot of merchandise to support Bey in this time of need. The goal of the GoFundMe page was set to $50,000, which has almost been reached.
Several notable pro wrestling names, such as Nic Nemeth, Adam Copeland, Will Osprey, Karrion Kross, Cody Rhodes, Chris Jericho, Scott D’Amore, Shane Helms, and many others, made donations to aid the TNA wrestler.
Chris Bey releases a statement after his injury
While he is currently taking his time to heal back, Chris Bey released a statement showcasing his gratitude to everyone having his back via a tweet on X.
“I just want to take a few moments to extend my heartfelt thanks and deepest appreciation for so much and to so many over the past few days," Bey began. "From everyone at TNA Wrestling, to the incredible medical staff here in Detroit, to family, friends and fans worldwide. I know you have been praying for my full recovery from the in-ring accident this past Sunday. Monday was Day One for me on this journey, which I know will be long and challenging. Thanks again for the love and support, and please keep the prayers coming!" Bey said.
Bey and Ace Austin lost their TNA World Tag Team Championship to The Hardy Boyz at Bound For Glory. It would be interesting to see if and when the duo issues a rematch after Bey’s recovery to reclaim their belts.
