WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg is a controversial figure in the business but has also managed to cultivate a huge following. He is the man who returned to the ring 12 years after his first WWE stint and single-handedly cut Brock Lesnar off at the knees, who was booked as an unstoppable force of nature at the time.

In the last decade, Goldberg won the Universal Championship twice and stepped in the ring opposite a wide range of athletes, from veterans to younger talents. His last match to date was at Elimination Chamber 2022 against Roman Reigns. On November 2, Goldberg, who turns 58 next month, announced that he will wrestle his last match in 2025. Tommy Dreamer believes Gunther is a "perfect" final opponent.

Speaking on Busted Open, Tommy Dreamer and Bully Ray agreed that the WCW legend deserves one last match, but it should not be for one last win. Dreamer noted that Gunther's height makes him a better choice than Bron Breakker, another name in conversation:

"I do feel Gunther is the perfect person for a couple of reasons. Number one: height. You're going to get something of a staredown right off the bat to help build anticipation with that. Goldberg will be making all his mean, intense faces. Him standing in front of Gunther is a much more impressiveness because [Bron Breakker] isn't that tall as Goldberg. [From 23:55 onwards]

As a two-parter, the ECW legend also pointed to a scenario where The Ring General cuts a dastardly heel promo post-match about the Hall of Famer, which ends up with the latter hitting him with a Spear. If this is how the segment ends, then the veteran goes out with a bang. Dreamer also added that it would be best for WWE to book this match in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tommy Dreamer adds that Royal Rumble 2025 is also a good spot for WWE to book Gunther vs. Goldberg

This is in large part owing to the possibility that World Heavyweight Champion Gunther's opponent at WrestleMania 41 is already in the works. Tommy Dreamer says the former Universal Champion is a fitting challenger for the Royal Rumble three months from now:

"If you're telling me they're going to go to the Georgia Dome, it works. If you're telling me, 'I'm going to do this for Gunther at the Royal Rumble because it's a good match for Gunther to have at the Royal Rumble and an added mega attraction,' yes. It works," Tommy Dreamer said.

The Rumble is set to emanate from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 1, 2025. Goldberg was in a similar spot in the 2021 edition, where he put over then-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.
