WWE legend Goldberg has been making headlines after his retirement announcement, which has also prompted questions about his final opponent. A veteran recently also shared his thoughts on the matter, questioning how much Da Man could put over someone else.

Many are expecting that Gunther will be Goldberg's final opponent. Considering the two previously had an altercation that did not turn physical, there is a good chance that this is exactly what the WWE creative team is planning. If Goldberg loses to him, this would also be a good chance to put over the Ring General even more.

However, Vince Russo is not confident in Da Man's ability to put someone over. On Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, the former writer was asked whether Goldberg's last string of losses have diminished his star power, which would make losing to Gunther meaningless. He stated:

"No it doesn't. It means absolutely nothing." [4:41 onwards]

Another WWE veteran is not pleased with the possibility of Gunther vs. Goldberg

According to Dutch Mantell, a retirement match involving Da Man and The Ring General is probably not a good idea.

Speaking on Storytime with Dutch Mantell, the veteran explained that Goldberg would want to go over in his retirement match, which would be difficult to book since WWE wants to protect Gunther.

"I hate it. First of all, it's a retirement match. I don't think anything is going to satisfy Goldberg in a retirement match; he's got to go over. But they can't afford for Gunther to lose," Mantell said.

For now, only time will tell whether the match between Goldberg and Gunther will happen in 2025.
