The notion of Goldberg facing Gunther, in what would be the WCW legend's in-ring return after over two years, is a bit of a mixed bag. A Hall of Famer also felt like a different WWE Superstar would be a more suitable choice.
Those who witnessed their interaction live at Bad Blood in Atlanta, Georgia, Goldberg's hometown, seemed ecstatic at the prospect of this potential bout. At 57, the legend's next match could very well be his last. WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff thinks Bron Breakker is a better final opponent for the veteran.
Speaking on his podcast 83 Weeks, Bischoff noted how the Stamford-based promotion had done a good job of late in presenting the Steiner Brothers. As the Hall of Famers are known among fans, Rick Steiner's son, Bron Breakker, facing Goldberg, makes a lot more sense.
"I would be using Bill [Goldberg] to help get somebody over and I would look for an underdog. I'd look for somebody young or I'd look for something that had a story to it that you could tell without having six months of TV behind you," Eric Bischoff said.
The former RAW General Manager then got to Bron Breakker facing Goldberg, a man with whom the former Intercontinental Champion's father had history from their days in WCW.
"Is there a way to use Rick Steiner's son ... you could use Rick, they've done a good job of establishing the Steiner brothers since WrestleMania, their name even came up a couple times tonight so the audience knows who they are and why they're being talked about. They also know the relationship with Bron and the connection to Bill going back to WCW," he added. [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
Goldberg's last match was against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in 2022. The bout was for The Tribal Chief's Universal Championship and ended in a losing effort for the legend.
CM Punk believes Bron Breakker is a 'bonafide future World Champion' in WWE
While discussing Bron Breakker during a recent press conference at Fanatics Fest NYC, CM Punk praised the former Intercontinental Champion.
The Best in the World feels that the second-generation youngster has all the makings of a future world champion in WWE and was "dangerous" owing to his Steiner blood.
"I think he’s dangerous because he’s a Steiner. The future looks bright as long as he can navigate the water and deal with all the pressure. Everybody looks at him and says the same thing, ‘Bonafide future world champion and superstar.’ That’s a lot to deal with when you’re young and first starting out. He has a good head on his shoulders. I predict good things for him," he said.

Bron Breakker resumed his rivalry with the Intercontinental Champion, 'Main Event' Jey Uso, last week. Whether he wins back the belt or not bears watching.
