Gunther confronted by 42-year-old babyface on RAW; next opponent after Cody Rhodes teased

Gunther is the #1 target man on Monday Night RAW and is set to face Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel. However, he won't be defending the title. Backstage on RAW, his next opponent and next possible title contender was teased.

Gunther responded to Cody Rhodes' appeal to come to SmackDown, accepting it but berating the WWE Champion. As he was hyping up the upcoming Champion vs. Champion match at Crown Jewel, he was confronted by a familiar face - the 42-year-old Damian Priest.

Maintaining his character's consistency since he became World Champion, Damian Priest told Gunther that now that his business with The Judgment Day is finished, he is gunning for the gold again. He said he doesn't expect a handout and will earn his title shot fair and square - teasing himself as the next World Heavyweight Championship opponent after Crown Jewel.

Assuming the man who formerly went by "El Campeon" earns a title shot, you can expect the SummerSlam rematch to happen at Survivor Series 2024. Another blockbuster match rumored for the show is Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship - this time with hatred and malice being the backstory of the match.

And then there is speculation that The Bloodline Civil War could result in an epic WarGames match.

It's going to be a very long November but an epic one.
