Wrestling veteran Bill Apter felt Gunther's character work was apparently strikingly similar to another WWE legend Killer Kowalski. Teddy Long also seemed to think the same.

Since his start on the main roster, the Ring General has established himself as a stoic dominant force. His exceptional ringwork and skills on the mic allowed him to set a historic record as the Intercontinental Champion, and then bag the World Heavyweight Title as well.

Veteran journalist Bill Apter recently brought up the topic of similarities between Gunther and WWE legend Killer Kowalski, when speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis. He stated that he got the idea from Bob Smith, a former PWI editor.

"He [Bob Smith] compared Gunther to an old timer. And then when I thought about it, I said yeah. He said Gunther reminds him of Killer Kowalski. Same build, same type of speaking verbage. They are same type of ringwork," said Apter. [8:21 onwards]

Another veteran believes Gunther's feud with Cody Rhodes in WWE isn't over

While Gunther may have lost against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel, this does not mark the end of their rivalry, according to wrestling veteran Jim Cornette.

Speaking on Drive-Thru, Cornette explained that their handshake after the match was a sign of respect as well as an indication that things were not quite finished between them.

“It was a good finish because it was a fluke… Ah, s**t—could have happened to anybody. So, they got by with having a good match; nothing's really particularly settled. And you mentioned the aftermath when Gunther shook Cody's hand, but he also shook his finger at him. He's like, ‘All right, give me your hand. Yeah, but next time, motherf***er, it's going to be different,' and off he went," Cornette said. [6:13 onwards]
