WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg claims that Gunther should drop the World Heavyweight Championship to a returning 47-year-old legend. The legend being referred to is none other than John Cena.

Since joining World Wrestling Entertainment in 2019, Gunther has made a huge name for himself by winning several titles, including the NXT Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the World Heavyweight Championship. The Ring General has also proven his worth against some of the biggest names in the company, including Damian Priest and Finn Balor.

However, since John Cena announced that he would retire from WWE at the end of 2025, many people have been speculating a match between The Cenation Leader and the Imperium leader.

WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg recently had his say on their possible match-up on his Cheap Heat podcast. During the conversation, Rosenberg mentioned that he wanted the 16-time World Champion to dethrone Gunther as the World Heavyweight Champion in 2025.

Former WWE employee also believes John Cena would dethrone Gunther

Similar to Peter Rosenberg, former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci also discussed John Cena potentially beating Gunther on an edition of the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast.

Carlucci mentioned that he believed that if The Ring General would remain champion, then he could see the 16-time World Champion dethroning him as the World Heavyweight Champion.

"I would think it'd be Gunther. If Gunther still champ, I could see Cena beating Gunther and winning it for like the 17th time and breaking the [Ric Flair's] record," he said.

In recent years, John Cena's matches have not had the outcome his fans wish for, as the legend has mostly been booked to put over younger talent. However, many people want the Stamford-based promotion to book Cena better in 2025 and possibly put another world title on him.

It will be interesting to see what the Triple H-led creative team has planned for The Cenation Leader's retirement tour in 2025.
