Gunther has been a dominant World Heavyweight Champion since capturing the title at WWE SummerSlam. However, wrestling analyst for the Stamford-based company Sam Roberts recently claimed The Ring General could drop the title before WrestleMania 41.
The 37-year-old recently surpassed 162 days as World Heavyweight Champion. He last defended the title at Saturday Night's Main Event last month when he defeated Finn Balor and Damian Priest in a Triple Threat Match. Over the past few months, many have been predicting potential opponents for The Ring General at WrestleMania 41, including former United States Champion Logan Paul.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts addressed the possibility of The Maverick squaring off with Gunther at The Show of Shows. He disclosed that he would like to see the match happen only if The Ring General lost his title ahead of WrestleMania 41, which he noted was quite plausible.
"I don't know if I love Gunther vs. Logan Paul for the championship. If Gunther loses the championship before WrestleMania, which is absolutely feasible, then I think Gunther vs. Logan Paul would be awesome. Gunther vs. Logan Paul for the World Heavyweight Championship? No, thank you on paper. Tell me the story and I'm sure you can sell me," he said. [1:12:08 - 1:12:26]

WWE legend could dethrone Gunther, says Peter Rosenberg
On his Cheap Heat podcast, WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg suggested a scenario where Gunther would drop his World Heavyweight Championship to a returning John Cena. The Leader of the Cenation recently announced that he would compete in the Men's Royal Rumble for a shot at a World Title.
The former 24/7 Champion suggested that Cena could then lose the title to Jey Uso.
"I mean, it depends if Cena ends up going after Gunther, right? If Cena gets it from Gunther, I don't know, is there a world in which Jey could take it off Cena?" Rosenberg said.
It will be interesting to see if Gunther can hold on to the World Heavyweight Championship until WWE WrestleMania 41 and who his potential opponent could be on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
