Gunther has held the World Heavyweight Championship since WWE SummerSlam. A former WWE employee recently suggested The Ring General may lose it to an absent massive superstar at WrestleMania 41.

Last night, the leader of Imperium successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames. On the Behind The Turnbuckle: The Last Word podcast, former WWE employee Tommy Carlucci and his co-host, wrestling veteran Jonathan Coachman, discussed the future of The Ring General as Priest seems to be heading into a storyline with Finn Balor and The Judgment Day.

Carlucci, who spent over 30 years in the Stamford-based company, suggested Gunther could potentially hold the World Heavyweight Championship until WrestleMania 41 before dropping it to John Cena. The Leader of the Cenation is set to return in 2025 to embark on his retirement tour.

"I just don't understand what they see in Gunther keeping the title this long. And are they planning to give him the title all the way to Rumble and possibly to WrestleMania? And the only reason why I could think of WrestleMania is that he faces Cena and Cena wins," he said. [1:16:23 - 1:16:39]

WWE analyst wants Gunther vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 41

On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts expressed his desire to see the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther go head-to-head with John Cena at WrestleMania 41.

The 41-year-old pointed out that booking a match between the two superstars at Grandest Stage of Them All is an opportunity the company must not miss.

"I wanna see Gunther vs. Cena. That's the match that I wanna see at 'Mania. I think that's what sold me. I mean, I really wanna see Cena vs. Gunther at WrestleMania. I just think it's too good to pass up," he said.

Cena would probably try to win his 17th world championship before hanging up his boots. It would be interesting to see if he would be the one to dethrone The Ring General.
