In the star-studded WWE roster, Gunther still stood out as a performer, according to many this year. A veteran recently shared his thoughts on the Ring General, claiming that the star made the biggest impression on him out of anyone in 2024.

Veteran journalist Bill Apter believes The Ring General was the best male performer this year. Starting with a strong performance at Royal Rumble, Gunther has had an epic run in the Stamford-based company. While he was pinned for the first time in 2024 since his debut, The Ring General has remained mostly dominant in the ring. His winning the World Heavyweight Championship felt entirely deserved and earned him much praise from fans.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, Bill Apter shared his thoughts on Gunther when asked for his pick of the best male star this year in WWE.

"That's a hard thing to say the best. I think the person that made the biggest impression on WWE coming from somewhere where you know... Would have to be Gunther. I mean, who saw that coming that he would become the World Heavyweight wrestling champion, and he carries himself like a World Heavyweight wrestling champion." [5:52 onwards]

Gunther's rise in WWE was unprecedented, says Bill Apter

While the veteran journalist had always been a fan of Gunther, even he admitted that the star's rise to the top was something he did not expect to happen so soon.

In addition to his comments on The Wrestling Time Machine, Bill Apter stated that several other names would be good contenders for his pick. However, he felt Gunther deserved it most.

"There are so many other people in WWE who have, I could say, might be the best of 2024. But Gunther has risen to a height that I didn't see coming. And he is really, uh, he is a classy professional wrestler." [6:16 onwards]

As of now, it remains to be seen what Gunther plans to do next.
