WWE Superstar Gunther began his reign as World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam 2024. Among the many stars and veterans vying for a chance to face The Ring General in the squared circle, Shawn Michaels has also expressed his interest in a match if hypothetically he were to lace up his wrestling boots.
The Heartbreak Kid officially retired from in-ring competition in 2010 after losing to The Undertaker at WWE WrestleMania 26. However, the 59-year-old legend came out of retirement once to team up with Triple H for a tag team match against The Deadman and Kane at Crown Jewel 2018.
In an interview earlier this June, Michaels said that if he were 20 years younger, he would have enjoyed facing wrestlers like Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, and Logan Paul in the current era.
Ahead of the 2024 NXT Halloween Havoc Premium Live Event, the WWE Hall of Famer added Gunther's name to his dream match list. Speaking to Penn Live, Shawn Michaels noted that he could have dominated The Ring General in a dream match due to his perceived strength against larger opponents in his prime years.

For those unaware, D-Generation X members Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, and X-Pack came face-to-face with Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and former Imperium member Giovanni Vinci on January 23, 2023, edition of Monday Night RAW.
WWE legend Shawn Michaels confirms his retirement status
As mentioned earlier, The Showstopper returned to the ring in 2018 to face The Brothers of Destruction in Saudi Arabia. However, that won't be the case anymore.
During an interview with Penn Live, Shawn Michaels was asked whether he would come out of retirement. The former WWE World Champion stated that he was done with wrestling, adding that he was ''comfortable'' leading the NXT brand.
"I am. Yes, I am done myself in the ring. Absolutely. Yes, sir. I’m very comfortable being behind the scenes," Michaels said.
As The Heartbreak Kid prepares to host a thrilling Halloween Havoc this coming Sunday, Gunther is scheduled to face Cody Rhodes for the Men's Crown Jewel Championship on November 2 in Saudi Arabia.
