Gunther's next challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship was officially announced on the latest episode of WWE RAW. The number-one contender for the coveted title is none other than Finn Balor.

The Judgment Day member cost his former tag team partner, Damian Priest, the title once again at the Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 Premium Live Event. He attacked The Archer of Infamy while the referee was distracted, but he got laid out by The Ring General as well.

On RAW this week, Finn Balor confronted the reigning World Heavyweight Champion backstage and demanded a title shot. After the Imperium leader defeated Dominik Mysterio in a singles match during the show, The Prince blindsided Gunther and attacked him.

After the segment, WWE announced that The Ring General will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14, 2024.

Balor has only held one world title in WWE, and that is the Universal Championship. If The Prince defeats Gunther at the upcoming event, not only will he become world champion again, but he will also have a chance to surpass his 1-day title reign with the Universal Championship.

It was also announced on RAW that Liv Morgan will defend her Women's World Championship against IYO SKY at the upcoming event.
